At the Homeless Children's Education Fund, I volunteered as part of their Afterschool Program, supporting children experiencing homelessness with academic tutoring, homework help, and enrichment activities. Working directly with students facing significant adversity reinforced my belief in education as a tool for equity and opportunity.
Over two and a half years of consistent volunteering at Balia have shaped my understanding of educational inequality in Spain. I help students with academics, lead activities, and try to be a positive presence in their lives.
Prior to going to Nepal, me and a group of classmates worked on fundraising money through charity events which allowed us to raise enough money to donate uniforms to a school in Nepal. During our stay at Nepal, we worked on creating a water storage facility by hand to allow the school access to clean water and we gave classes to the students. We also visited several NGOs to understand how organisations are tackling socioeconomical and environmental issues in Nepal.
I find volunteering to be deeply gratifying and fulfilling, making me thrive to help different communities with my assistance. Volunteering helps me engage in an initiative for impactful change.
